A LITTLE VACATION is a darkly-comic but grounded drama following Jess, a young woman who is admitted to a psych ward following a suicide attempt. She finds reprieve from the real world only to be released without a tangible way to move forward.
ABOUT
In a recent study, the post-discharge suicide rate was found to be 100X higher than the global suicide rate. Why?Stories about mental health and suicide can obviously be triggering and difficult to execute. But as storytellers, we believe making authentic stories accessible will make people struggling feel less alone. Generally, suicide is seen as taboo. It is discussed in hushed tones with a heaviness
attached. But in real life, it is a more nuanced issue.
There is no one solution.A LITTLE VACATION aims to spread honesty and awareness while promoting necessary discussion, hopefully lessening the stigma surrounding suicide and those struggling with it.
OUR GOAL
A LITTLE VACATION is a fully self-funded independent short film. Our goal is to raise $50,000 CAD through donations.There are many incredible individuals who donated time and resources to this project and we would like to find a way to compensate them, while bringing more incredible humans into the ALV family.Any amount of donation helps.
